Newark- September 18-19, 2015- Our parish hosted the first annual “Stop Hunger Now” meal packaging event.

Over 304 community volunteers participated in the two day event, including 9 churches, 6 youth organizations, 5 community groups one business and many other individuals from the Newark area.  In addition, 60 businesses, organizations and individuals donated to help achieve a $9000 fundraising goal. An amazing 30,000 meals were packaged in four shifts.

Linda Werts, coordinator of the event thanks us for being a host, and adds: “In a few weeks we will know where our 30,024 meals will be shipped. Thanks to the partnership with “Stop Hunger Now” a four star international hunger relief organization, we made new community friends and learned that it is an awesome experience when we join together to “do good ” in the world.”

Join us for the Annual NPEM Picnic!

This Sunday, September 13, at 11 AM at B. Forman Park in Pultneyville, NY, the churches of NPEM will be gathering for worship and fellowship at our annual picnic!  There will be no services at any of the NPEM churches this Sunday. We’ll begin with a service of Holy Eucharist at 11.  Our theme this year is Outreach, and we’re collecting donations for the outreach ministries of all three churches.  Please bring one or more of the following items:

Newborn-sized diapers for the St. Mark’s Baby Closet
Children’s underwear (up to age 18) for the St. John’s Children’s Closet
Monetary donations for Grace’s Gifts, providing assistance to Lyons students in emergency need.

We’ll go from the Holy Table to the common table for a picnic lunch!  Hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks will be provided.  Bring a dish to pass.

See you there!
