Who Is Welcome?

You are.

St. Mark’s is a church for people with different stories. People of different ages, backgrounds, incomes and occupations. Lifelong residents and newcomers. Married, single, partnered, divorced, and widowed. Conservatives, liberals, and people thoroughly tired of politics. Lifelong Christians, people returning to church, and people who aren’t sure what they believe.

People of different sexual orientations and gender identities are welcome here, and LGBTQ+ people and couples are already part of the life and leadership of our parish.

We don’t expect everyone at St. Mark’s to think alike or agree about everything. We do expect to worship together, serve our neighbors, learn from one another, and treat each other with the dignity we promise to respect in every human being at Baptism.

Babies and young children need a lot of things, and sometimes money gets tight. The St. Mark’s Baby Closet provides diapers, clothing, formula, baby supplies, and other essentials to local families.

There is no charge. You don’t need to be a member of St. Mark’s or any church.

    Morning Prayer: Why We Pray This Way

    Sundays through September 20

    9:15–9:45 AM

    A relaxed six-week conversation about where Morning Prayer came from, why we pray this way, and how Scripture and prayer can shape everyday life. Come for one week or all six. No experience needed.

    St. Mark’s is part of something bigger. Clergy and lay representatives from Episcopal churches across the Rochester Diocese will gather for our 95th Diocesan Convention to worship, conduct the business of the Church, and help shape our shared ministry.

An Old Faith for Real Life

People have been gathering here to pray for nearly 175 years. They have brought the same things people bring today: families and jobs, hopes and worries, grief and gratitude, questions and faith.

At St. Mark’s, we gather around the ancient Christian practices of Scripture, prayer, Baptism, and Communion because we believe Jesus Christ still meets ordinary people in ordinary life.

You don’t need to know the service, dress a certain way, have everything figured out, or pretend to be someone you’re not. Come as you are. We’ll help with the rest.
