Baby Closet
About the Baby Closet
The Baby Closet at St Mark’s is intended to assist families in crisis by providing essential items for infants and young children. It was started in 2006 with a grant from the Episcopal Diocese of Rochester. Through this mission, emergency assistance is given to people suffering and in need in our community. In 2019, the Baby Closet had 104 visits from those in need.
The Baby Closet is funded by the generosity of the people of St Mark’s and by grants from the Episcopal Diocese of Rochester, as well as donations from other churches, organizations, and individuals.
The closet has items such as
- diapers
- wipes
- baby shampoo
- baby cereal, food, and formula
- limited clothing (up to size 5)
- crib bedding
Eligibility
Any family or individual in need of emergency assistance for their child can access the closet up to six times per year. There are no fees for the service. Referrals are received from local non-profit agencies, as well as from churches and individuals.

You Can Help! We Need Donations Of:
- cash
- new or gently used clothing up to size 5
- diapers (especially newborn size)
- formula (especially Enfamil with iron)
- infant toiletries
- crib sheets
The above picture includes many ladies from the Lyons Methodist Church who recently came to St. Mark's for a "thank you" luncheon. For the past five years, the women of the Lyons Methodist Church have had a "baby shower" for the St. Mark's Baby Closet ministry. St. Mark's is very grateful to them as well as other churches for their generous support.
